Courtyard of Castle Adamant
The women of of Adamant are armed with battle axes
and sing fiercely, "Death to the Invader". However, they are timid
at the same time and request that the invading army "do not hurt us, if
it please you." King Gama's three sons come to fight against King
Hildebrand's forces on behalf of the women. In the finale,
Princess Ida yields and is united with Prince Hilarion. Neglected
Lady Blanche, professor of abstract philosophy, takes over the
